Please read these Official Rules before entering the Craft & Cruise Creative Challenge. These rules explain who may participate, how to submit an entry, how submissions will be judged, and what recognition is available.
Challenge Prompt: A Breath of Fresh Air
Make something that feels like it. Any medium. Any interpretation.
1. About the Challenge
Craft & Cruise Creative Challenge 001 invites creators to interpret the prompt “A Breath of Fresh Air” through their own creative expression.
Participants may respond through any creative medium, including visual art, photography, fashion and textiles, film, music, sound, writing, dance, sculpture, digital art, or another form of creative expression.
There is no single required interpretation. The goal is to create something that meaningfully expresses what a breath of fresh air feels like to you.
2. Important Dates
Submissions open: November 6, 2026.
Submission deadline: November 16, 2026, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
Judging period: November 17–30, 2026.
Winner announcement: December 1, 2026.
Entries must be submitted through the official submission process within the published submission window. Entries received after the deadline may not be considered.
3. Eligibility
To participate, you must:
Be a resident of the United States.
Be at least 18 years old at the time of entry.
Submit original work in response to the Creative Challenge prompt.
Comply with these Official Rules and the submission requirements.
Entry is free. One submission is permitted per person for Creative Challenge 001.
4. Originality and Generative AI
Your submission must be your own original creative work.
Generative AI should not be used to create challenge submissions.
You must have the rights and permissions necessary to submit your work and any materials included in it. Submissions must not knowingly infringe another person's copyright, intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
5. How to Enter
Submissions open on November 6, 2026. To enter:
Review the challenge prompt and these Official Rules.
Prepare an original creative work responding to “A Breath of Fresh Air.”
Complete the official submission form linked from the Craft & Cruise Creative Challenge page.
Provide the information requested in the form and submit your work using an accepted format.
Complete any required declarations and confirm your agreement to the Official Rules.
Follow the submission instructions for accepted formats and any technical requirements. Submitting an entry confirms that you have reviewed and agreed to the applicable Official Rules. Your entry must be submitted by November 16, 2026, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
6. Submission Requirements
We welcome work across creative disciplines, including:
Visual art and illustration
Fashion and textiles
Photography
Film and video
Music and sound
Writing and spoken word
Dance and movement
Sculpture and three-dimensional work
Digital art and design
Other creative mediums
Your interpretation does not need to fit neatly into one category. If your medium isn't listed, you're still welcome to participate.
Submission formats
Your work must be submitted in a format that allows the Craft & Cruise judging team to review it. Video and audio submissions must not exceed five minutes. Any external links must remain accessible throughout the judging period. Please follow the published file-format and upload requirements when preparing your entry.
7. Judging Criteria
Eligible submissions will be evaluated by the Craft & Cruise judging team using the following criteria:
I. Interpretation: How compellingly does the work respond to the challenge prompt?
II. Expression: How effectively does it communicate a feeling, idea, perspective, or experience?
III. Originality: Does it demonstrate a distinctive creative point of view?
IV. Experience: Does it invite the viewer or listener to feel, notice, imagine, or experience something?
V. Craft & Intentionality: Does it demonstrate thoughtfulness and intention in how it was made?
Technical polish alone will not determine the outcome. The central consideration is how compellingly the work interprets the prompt and creates a meaningful experience.
The judging period runs from November 17 through November 30, 2026. The judging team's decision will determine the Challenge Winner.
8. Prize and Recognition
One Challenge Winner will receive $100. The winner will be announced on December 1, 2026.
Runner-ups and selected Community Picks may also be featured across Craft & Cruise channels in recognition of their creative work. Any additional recognition will be communicated by Craft & Cruise.
9. Ownership and Use of Submitted Work
You retain ownership of your original work. By entering, you agree to the permissions for featuring and promoting submitted work described in the official submission process. Craft & Cruise may feature selected work with credit to the creator in connection with the Creative Challenge and related Craft & Cruise channels, subject to the applicable submission terms.
Please review the rights and permissions presented during submission before entering.
10. Submission Compliance
Entries must comply with the eligibility requirements, originality rules, submission instructions, and content requirements. Craft & Cruise reserves the right to exclude entries that do not comply with the published rules or technical requirements.
